Can you believe the 2018 CrossFit Open is only 6 weeks away?!

One movement we see every year is the toes to bar – a challenging gymnastic movement that requires full body strength and coordination. Like many gymnastic movements, we need the proper strength and skill level to perform the movement properly and safely which will take some practice!

Below are three short videos on technique for the toes to bar. Make sure to check each of them out and watch them completely through to get them most out of them!

This first video is a quick review on the points of performance of the movement, and both technique and standards of the movement are reviewed.

Now that we understand the basic points of performance, we can break the movement down a bit and start to understand what needs to be done with the body in order to actually perform the movement. The video below reviews progressions and what muscles need to be active to perform the kipping toes to bar – take a look!

Once you develop the strength and skills necessary to perform toes to bar, you can start to build more stamina to do more unbroken reps, recover quicker from sets and work on more efficient movement patterns.
