Between all of the holiday parties and shopping happening this time of the year, we hope many of you have had some time to reflect on 2017. With the 2018 right around the corner this is the perfect time to start thinking about what your goals are for the new year. We often use January 1st as a starting point for these new hopes and dreams, and although some people see this as an unsuccessful endeavor, let’s make 2018 different!
A goal takes work – it’s not just a simple statement you can say to someone! Goals take planning, dedication, drive, commitment, and being relentlessness day in and day out 365 times in a row and then some. Does each day need to be 100% perfect? – no – not by any means. We can’t be perfect all the time and that’s ok, but to stay conscious and active towards the pursuit of your goals regardless of your mood, or how much time you think you don’t have, or how tired you are (or whatever the reason may be) is crucial to your success.
Stay tuned for some goal setting tips coming up in the next two weeks, and start brainstorming now!
Having said that, what’s your goal for attendance at the box this week? Take a look at what we have in store for you this week and make a plan on which days/classes you can come and get here – no excuses!!!
Monday muscle ups! If you don’t have muscle ups yet and want 2018 to be your year, you need to come in and work on those skills and drills. Monday we will spend a good part of class practicing some movements related to ring muscle ups so don’t miss out. Telling yourself you are never going to get one won’t help! You have to do the grunt work necessary to build the strength and skill set to achieve one.
Tuesday’s CrossFit Open repeat this week brings us back to the 2015 Open. 15.5 was a grueling combo of Rowing and Thrusters and pacing is everything. Here is the workout:
For Time:
27 – 21 – 15 – 9
Calorie row
Thrusters 95/65#
Wednesday we are changing things up a bit by having our partner workout today instead of Saturday focusing on Double Unders and Power Cleans. This will be a fun one! The Power Clean weight increases every round as you and your partner pass the bar back and forth working through the reps.
Thursday we dial back the conditioning and focus on strength alternating between various movements each minute. Make sure to get in today to practice your gymnastics, they won’t happen by chance, you need to put in the work.
Friday we test a 5RM lift followed by a fast paced conditioning piece for the workout.
Finally we arrive to Saturday. This is a classic workout we do yearly around the holiday season… “12 Days of CrossFit”, yay!!! This is a fun one that changes slightly every year, but the structure of the workout stays the same – let’s have fun with it! Reminder, no Barbell class on Saturday only 9am CrossFit.
Reminder – we will be closed Sunday, December 24th and Monday December 25th for the holidays.
See you at the box!
